Plan Your Trip

Everything you need to plan the perfect London trip — visas, best times to visit, packing tips, and itineraries.

Visa & Entry Requirements

Most GCC nationals can enter the UK visa-free for up to 6 months. Citizens of other Arab countries typically need a Standard Visitor Visa. Apply online through the UK Government website at least 3 weeks before travel.

Key documents: Valid passport (6+ months), return flight booking, hotel confirmation, proof of funds, and travel insurance.

Tip: The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system now applies to GCC nationals — apply online before travel.

Best Time to Visit London

Spring (April–May): Mild weather, blooming parks, fewer crowds. Perfect for sightseeing.

Summer (June–August): Warmest weather (18–25°C), longest days, but peak tourist season with higher prices.

Autumn (September–October): Beautiful foliage, cultural season begins, moderate prices.

Winter (November–March): Christmas markets, sales season, but cold and dark. Great for shopping at Harrods and Selfridges.

Ramadan note: If visiting during Ramadan, many halal restaurants offer special iftar menus. Check our Food section for details.

Packing & Preparation

Essentials: Layers (London weather changes quickly), waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, UK power adapter (Type G, 3-pin).

Tech: Download the TfL Go app, Google Maps offline, and a currency converter. Get an Oyster card or use contactless payment.

Health: Bring any prescription medications, basic first aid. EU/EHIC cards no longer valid post-Brexit — get travel insurance.
